Close Combat Magazine had a chance to catch up with Wylie Scott, Lansing Eastern’s freshman varsity wrestler in the 144 pound division representing Eastern’s rich wrestling history. Here is what he had to say:
Q: Why did you get into wrestling?
A: I got recruited to wrestle in my 7th grade cafeteria.
Q: What do you love most about wrestling?
A: That winning or losing depends solely on me.
Q: Who is your favorite wrestler?
A: Coach Arnold Pulliam
Q: Who is the greatest wrestler of all time?
A: Arnold Pulliam
Q: What is your best memory on the wrestling team?
A: The day I got my first pair of wrestling shoes.
Q: Who has helped you become the wrestler you are today?
A: Coach AP has already made me so much of a better wrestler than I was in seasons before.
Q: Do you recommend wrestling to others, why or why not?
A: I recommend wrestling to pretty much everyone I know because it builds character and resilience.
Q: What do you like most about being on the wrestling team?
A: I like going to practice every day.
Q: How do you prepare for your next match?
A: I don’t prepare for my next match, I don’t like to focus on what’s coming up.
Q: What is your goal for this wrestling season?
A: To have an overall positive record.
Q: What is one of your goals for after high school?
A: To make enough money to survive.
Q: What is your favorite classroom subject?
A: Math
Q: What is your dream school/university?
A: I haven’t thought much about college.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Chicken and waffles
Q: What is your favorite song/music artist?
A: My favorite artist is TOOL and I don’t have a favorite song.
