Close Combat Magazine had a chance to catch up with Yadira Leneht Sandoval Santoyo, Lansing Everett’s wrestler in the 120/115 girls division. Here is what she had to say about her experience in the sport:
Q: Why did you get into wrestling?
A: At first I joined just to try it but as time passed I found myself loving the sport.
Q: What do you love most about wrestling?
A: The way that it has changed me as a person.
Q: Who is your favorite wrestler?
A: Cayden Henschel.
Q: Who is the greatest wrestler of all time?
A: Im not sure.
Q: What is your best memory on the wrestling team?

A: My first match because even tho I didn’t win the support and the feeling it gave me was priceless.
Q: Who has helped you become the wrestler you are today?
A: My coaches and my teammates because they’ve always pushed me to do better.
Do you recommend wrestling to others, why or why not?
A: Yes definitely, because it not only teaches you physical discipline but also challenges your mind and to be focus.
Q: What do you like most about being on the wrestling team?
A: The amount of support we give and receive from each other.
Q: How do you prepare for your next match?
A: I like to shadow wrestle while listening to music to get in the moment and focus.
Q: What is your goal for this wrestling season?
A: To improve of course but especially to better my techniques.
Q: What is one of your goals for after high school?
A: Graduate with a scholarship to a good college.
Q: What is your favorite classroom subject?
A: History / Government

A: Central Michigan University
